MTD submissions process for landlords

My wife and I jointly own four rental properties, all currently on a 50/50 basis, and we’re looking to use QuickFile for MTD ITSA. Can ownership percentages be recorded at property level so that income and expenses are automatically apportioned for each owner’s quarterly updates and final declarations, or is the intended workflow to maintain 100% of the bookkeeping in one account and manually apply an apportionment when preparing each MTD submission? That would require exporting data to an additional account and seems messy if I have understood the process correctly.

The former would be far more sensible and presumably could make the updates and final submission more straight forward - and all from a single account.

Hello @Tim_Mulligan

Apportionments are done at a submission level not a property level

and all from a single account.

You would still need at least 2 accounts (for the propertys) one for your wife and one for you as you are both submitting self assessments.

It is designed for example so you enter all the property transactions in your account create a draft update - set to apportion 50% then share it to your wife’s account so she can submit the remaining 50% without having to re enter all teh detail.
