Need to change Year End date to 7/10/2019

I when into account setting but unable to set the year end date backwards to 7/10/2019.

Please help as I need to close the books

after I have change the year end to 7th October 2019 and then need to keep the 31.03.2020 date for the next year end only 6 months I known but we have just merger with a new company.

I read a messege that said if you set the date in advange it works backwards.
