"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message

Hiya Glenn

I loove this system - it has changed my life!!!
Do you have any thoughts about the time in between an estimate being accepted (so order in production - this could take a month) so dont want to invoice yet, dont want it in invoiced figures but dont want it as estimate either

Donna

Wow that’s great to hear

When a user accepts an estimate it’s status will be updated accordingly. You don’t necessarily need to convert this to an invoice immediately, am I right in thinking that the dilemma here is in relation to scheduling an invoice for a future date? From the point that the estimate is accepted, would you know the date that the invoice should be issued? Just trying to get a handle on your requirements.

Hi Glen
No i wouldnt know when the invoice would be raised
I think that the mistake that Ive been making is that the estimates have not been ‘accepted’ on the system
This is helpful - I think that this will improve things

Oh - I keep hitting this error message 'object reference not set to an instance of an object’
Im putting a lot of detail on the estimates Glen - how can I get around this?

object reference not set to an instance of an object

Is this on the estimate entry screen? It would really help us if you are able to email a screen shot (glenn@quickfile.co.uk) of the page just before you hit submit. Thanks!

Hiya Glenn

Here is the screen shot
If I click to save or view it will give me that error message

Donna

Did you copy and paste the text in the description from somewhere else? It’s not saving as there is an odd character in there that can’t be encoded on the server. It’s not visible in the screen shot but when I located the log and copied the text into Notepad I saw small arrow character (highlighted in yellow). I can have a word with our developers to see if this can be stripped out but in the mean time I would either hand type or copy into Notepad and remove any of these wierd characters.

I’ve never seen this happen before, but it’s a great find, thanks!!

Wow! Youre a star!
Im thinking of setting up my very own ‘we love Glenn’ fan club!!! x
