One Drive for Business/Sharepoint Online

For now I’ve set up the integration again (for backups) to my personal Dropbox as I realised I had been a little hasty…

I don’t work for QuickFile but I was able to develop an equivalent of the receipt hub Dropbox integration for Google Drive using the QuickFile API and Google Apps Script - there’s probably a way to do the same for OneDrive using Azure functions or similar.

Backups will be different as that is initiated from the QuickFile side, but you could make it send backups by email instead of Dropbox and then set up a rule in Outlook to save the attachments to OneDrive.

Or you could use some intermediary service. For instance I have a Synology NAS that can keep local folders synced with pretty much most/all online storage services so you can have all your company files in OneDrive and just sync the receipts folder with Dropbox using this service, which is pretty much what I do. Locally the OneDrive/Dropbox integration is completely transparent.

+1 for OneDrive in addition to Dropbox

The way to vote is click the vote button at the top!

Also though, there is this one which is likely to be more widely useful rather than loads of one off integrations.

We already use Zapier but are slowly pulling back after the number of Zaps we were doing across the business started to have an impact on price, it was fine at $20 per month but when we went to $50 per month we started to think a bit more - $600 per year

Might also be worth thinking about IFTTT - altho’ they seem to be having a different pricing model now

I’ve managed to split mine up a bit to keep them on the free tier, so rather than doing one 4 step Zap I do three 2 step Zaps.

The Dropbox/Drive one I think you can do in 2 steps anyway, I just use more than 2 because I move the files from a source folder then copy them to Dropbox. You could just skip the first step.

Hi Glenn, I wanted to add a bit of business case to you reconsidering native integrations (Or at least publishing details of API integrations created by other customers if they allow).

Like I’m sure happens to many of us, I get hounded by my ‘Xero Platinum Partner’ accountant to move to Xero every year. I have several suppliers billing in USD and EUR so the Xero package I would need is £50/month at full price, so £600.

I have three staff and currently I pay £75 for QF with bank feeds.
I currently use HMRC’s gods awful Basic PAYE tools, but BrightPay would be £84, whereas that would be included with Xero.
My accountant charged me an additional £265 for ‘extra work’ they claim was required due to limitations of the VAT reports vs Xero (I don’t really believe them, but that’s besides the point)

So, we already use M365 and have OneDrive/SharePoint storage available. without Dropbox QF works out ~£176 less than the system I am being actively pushed towards, but the cheapest Dropbox subscription with any security whatsoever closes this to ~£76 and looking at the cheapest ‘Business’ version it’s just ~£11 (I haven’t actually read the licence agreement of the personal version to check if business use is allowed, because Dropbox make it so difficult to work out what terms apply to which product(s).

When I looked at changing accountant, every single one I spoke to recommended Xero (None of them told me they would charge extra for not using them, but none of them had used QuickFile either).

I’m not suggesting that I’m considering moving (I don’t have any inclination to learn another accounting system at the moment) but whilst of course I can’t speak for other businesses, I’m sure there are those who would do what their accountants suggest for an easy life if there’s little or no financial saving for not doing so.

Edit: I should also add anecdotally that we have dozens of clients and all but one of them uses M365 in some capacity, whereas only one has Dropbox, in fact most of them have security rules in place blocking the use of Dropbox on their computers!

Hi @Mark_Manning, I do see a strong case for supporting OneDrive, as they are have become much more ubiquitous lately. I think we could certainly look at performing a technical review to at least see what’s involved on our side.

I’ll mark this post as “Under Consideration” and we’ll take a look at their API specs and go from there.

Just a quick one to let you know that we have built a OneDrive integration and we are now in the final development / test stage. Further updates to follow.

The OneDrive integration is now live and you will find the option to link your OneDrive / Sharepoint account from the main menu:

Account Settings > 3rd Party Integration > Cloud storage integrations

We are keen to hear feedback, so please post any comments or issues here.

We’ve also included a general usage guide below:
