Out of scope of VAT checkbox - Non VAT registered

There used to be a checkbox “Out of scope of VAT” on invoices, however it is no longer there. Is this feature removed?

Have you enabled this for the client you are creating an invoice for?

Hi Nick, see my response to the below post to find “Out of scope of VAT” option:

http://community.quickfile.co.uk/t/vat-on-sales-invoices-that-include-mots/7720

There is no VAT settings in the client details.

That is because “VAT Accounting” setting is inactive on the account level.

In “Account Settings” go to “Company Settings” and you’ll find yourself in the “Basic Settings” view where you can activate VAT accounting:

The company is not vat registered. So this feature can not be used to track the vat threshold for out of scope and in scope invoices ?

If you’re not VAT Registered, VAT has no effect on your accounts so it’s not included

Ok, can I suggest this as a new feature ? It would be very convenient to be able to see how much we have sold that counts towards the vat threshold.
Now we have to keep this accounting separate from quickfile.

Seems like you already have most of this on place, so shouldn’t be that difficult to implement ?

The threshold is based on your turnover which you can already see from your profit and loss report

I would hope that this is not implemented as there are many people that account for VAT when they shouldn’t so adding anything VAT related to a non VAT registered company is a bad idea.

What you could do is use the project tagging to mark invoices. You can then run a report on the tags to see what position you are at with the turnover.

Project tagging would be the best way to go here, or post to a unique sales nominal. I’m afraid this is not something we’d implement as standard.

Its only based on turnover which is subject to vat.

I’ll look into project tagging. Thanks!
