Password reset on affinity not working

hi
i have had this problem in the past. I’ve now got it again

i have an affinity account.
i cant log in with my password that i successfully changed it to

i choose to reset my password.
i receive a new password.
i log in with this new password.
i proceed to change my password to the one i want.
i have tried manually inputting it, and copy and paste it in.
i confirm this in the 2nd box.
i change it and quickfile confirms its been changed.

i log out.
i try to log back in with my new password.
it doesn’t work.
i try the old password which was reset by quickfile and that doesn’t work.
i then have to reset the password again.

i then receive a new password reset.
rinse and repeat.
log back in, change to my password, log out, my new password doesn’t work.

rinse and repeat.

I’ve don’t this three times on the run, each time not being able to log in.

can you look into this.
im now left with the password quickfile gives me when i reset it.
i do not want to try it again for the 4th time in a row.

Hello @adnw

I have just tested this on 2 of our test accounts (on 2 different devices) and they both worked fine.

I would recommend either trying a different browser or clearing your browser cache.

Just to rule it out.

hi, ive figured it out, and id say it was a quicfile error and not mine.

when you choose to change the password in team management, it only allows 20 characters maximum.
i was typing in a 21 character password.
because it only shows what you type as dots, you cant see that the last character doesn’t input.
i looks like you have input 21, there is no error to tell you its only 20.

when you go to re type it, the same happens, it only takes 20 of your 21 character password. this means the limited passwords match each other, but the user does not realises quickfile has changed the password.

this is also exactly the same if you copy and paste in a 21 character password like i also tried.

when you go to login, it allows you to type in 21 characters, instead of the 20 it limits you to in the password change.

this resulted in me thinking id changed it correctly to my 21 character password and then couldn’t log in with my 21 character password.

hope that makes sense?

if you limit the password box to 20 characters in team management, shouldn’t you limit it to 20 on the login?
also, why is it actually limited?

Hi @adnw

The password field shouldn’t have this limitation, so something isn’t working quite right here.

I have raised this with our development team to investigate.

But I’m glad you’ve managed to resolve it in the meantime. We will keep you posted.
