I can see the guides to how to create a prepayment on the system.
My question is what documentation can we send the client?
What we have done till date (to avoid double accounting for VAT) is that we send them an invoice for the prepayment. Then when the order comes in, we zero out the invoice (to avoid doubling the VAT we need to pay back) and add a comment in the invoice indicating how much we have taken from the prepay.
However, the client has now said the invoices we issues them for the actual orders need to show the non zero amount. Therefore, at a loss of how to issue them something indicating a prepayment is required.
