I am tagging purchase invoices.
Added one tag to invoices - no problem.
Need now to add a second tag to one of them.
Selected it and clicked ‘update tags’. It shows the original tag in the box, with the cursor alongside it.
It allows me to type a tag name, but there is no auto-recognition, and neither does it store the additional tag.
Any thoughts please?
Many thanks
Hi @sjl
Firstly - am I correct in thinking you are doing this from the overview screen rather than the invoice preview screen?
If so, I’ve just tried to replicate this, and it seems to work all OK.
Are you trying to use spaces? Spaces are replaced with dashes ( - ), so if you’re entering those it may not appear.
If there’s no slaves, perhaps you could let me know what web browser and operating system you are using please (e.g. Chrome on Windows 7)
That is interesting. I have tried it from both places, by the way.
Firstly, this is Chrome on Windows 10.
I have three existing tags, currently one of the three is assigned to most purchase invoices.
In the Purchase Management screen, I ticked the invoice I wanted to assign a second, existing, tag to.
The tag to be added is called ‘overhead’. Here is the result:
As you can see - no response.
I tried it on Internet Explorer 11 and Edge with the same result.
Is there any other information I can supply that may help?
Should I also say that the invoice is ‘Paid’ and tagged with the bank account.
Hi @sjl
I’ve found your account. I’ll send you a request now, and if you have no objections, please accept it and I’ll have a quick look at your account and see if I can notice anything that stands out.
Many thanks
I have responded
Don’t let the Sunday lunch burn though.
The invoice I was using was QF00010
No problem. No fear of the roast burning - I’ve got a very close eye on it
I think I’ve found the issue, but in going to have to refer it to an engineer and come back to you.
My suspicion is the other tag on the invoice. As spaces are replaced with dashes, and your previous tag ends with a dash, I’m wondering if that’s causing the issue.
Bear with me, and someone will come back to you shortly. For now, I’ve changed this to a bug.
Many thanks
Clearly not mission critical…
The problem is with the decimal point in the tag name, typically entering decimal points in tag names is restricted, maybe you circumvented this by pasting in the name rather than typing it in directly? In this case it’s the decimal point that is breaking some other component of the predictive search.
Removing the decimal point will fix this issue (I can do this for you if you like?). We’ll also look into tightening the validation further to prevent initial entry of decimals.
EDIT:
For now I’ve updated the tag names, replacing decimals with a hyphen. This should now allow you to add extra tags. Please let me know how you get on.
Hello Glenn
Yes indeed, I copied and pasted the tags from an excel spreadsheet that I have used up until now.
I confess I didn’t look too closely at what might be banned characters. I saw the facility and realised it would fit brilliantly what I needed, so just used it. Thanks very much for removing the offending character from the existing tags. I can confirm that all is working perfectly now.
I was converting from an excel spreadsheet at the advice of my bookkeeper for the limited company we have in an attempt to limit the frankly obscene accountant’s bills we have had for the last couple of years for the partnership.
I only started a couple of days ago, and I was copying the data for this year across. Said bookkeeper is preparing an opening journal (I know my limitations!)
It is not complex by any means, but I have been immensely impressed by your product. The superb level of support is clearly ‘the icing on the cake’.
You and your team are to be heartily congratulated.
With thanks
Stephen
