Problem mapping file on HSBC statements?

Hi!

I am in the process of uploading my HSBC statements to QF and I keep getting the same message as a few others on here:

We are having some problems mapping your file.

I also tried to upload under “other” and map manually, however, it just defaults back to the same message as above.

Can anyone help or offer any other suggestions?

This is usually down to some special characters or errant spaces/line breaks. Have you opened the file in a text editor and checked the for any of these?

Hi Lurch,

Nothing immediately jumps out at me - I have amended the things I thought could have been a problem but still… no dice… Is there anything specific I should be keeping an eye out for?

The usual issues are;

  • additional characters in the amounts column (either non-standard characters or simply non numerical characters, e.g. £ or GBP)
  • commas in the description field
  • additional line breaks at the end of the file
