Problem with bank feed from HSBC

I am trying to import transactions from April last year to do my tax return. I have set up the new auto feed but only from April this year, 2019 (I misread the date and didn’t set it to far enough back in time). So I went to my HSBC account and tried to download the statements I needed to import from Apr 2018. It won’t download them to my machine but just says its imported it to QuickFile for me to process. However none of the transactions have imported into Quickfile - only the ones that were already there remain - none of the additional ones (mostly drawings). PLease help, I am not able to do my tax return with it llike this and I have paid for the auto feed this and last year. Thank you

Hi @emmSB,

You will need to log into your bank directly to download the bank statements as a .csv file and then there is an option to upload the statement in the bank view.

you can’t download them directly into quickfile?

This is what I tried to do but there seems to be some process in the HSBC side of things that won’t let me download a .csv file (option is MSmoney/Quicken or MS excel) I choose excel (.xls) press ‘download’ and it just says " Export Complete!

Please login into your Quick File account to review and process the exported data." No file is downloaded to my machine.

Hi @emmSB,

If you have managed to export the data, have a look in your downloads folder? It should be there somewhere?

No there is no file download - that’s the issue. It seems to imply its downloaded itself into Quick File.

Oh and I have also tried downloading the MSMoney/Quicken style file - same issue and message - no file downloaded, just this message its in Quick File

Hi @emmSB,

I’m confused as to how it’s sending it to QuickFile if you are downloading it directly from your bank?

I was thinking that myself… Its just how I understand the message… Whatever, the situation is that I can’t get my statements from the bank into quick file, either with the feed I paid for, nor by downloading from the bank directly. Do you have a suggestion of what I need to do or what needs fixing. Once I click ok on the message at the bank then I get taken out of my accounts area on the bank. Or are you trying to suggest it s not quick files problem despite the message?

Hi @emmSB,

Are you using a plug in? So when you go to download the statement are you given an option similar to this:

If so, this is no longer supported. You should just be able to download onto your pc. If you aren’t able to download onto your PC then this is a bank problem rather than a quickfile problem

I am using a PC so it doesn’t look like this. I don’t click the ‘export to quick file’ button but the download button - here is a screen capture video of what I do (without any sensitive data shown)

OK I have a search for quick file extensions to chrome and found one and removed it - problem sorted. Thank you for your help

Hi @emmSB

The “Export to QuickFile” button is coming from the Google Chrome plugin that we used to offer. This was discontinued earlier this year. I suspect that HSBC may have changed something in their online banking interface which is causing the plugin to interfere.

If you remove the plugin from Chrome, this will likely resolve this issue.
