Purchase Code for Computer Parts?

Hi I’m looking for advice on which purchase code to use for expenses just as computer monitors, and keyboards etc.

I was previously using General Purchases, but this is a “cost of sale” so I am not sure if this is correct.

I found this code online: Computer Supplies - 72240, but when I try to use this code it says ‘did not match any code’

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Philip

What are you doing with these monitors and keyboards?

General day-to-day work - I provide online marketing services and having a computer (and different accessories like mice, keyboard, headset) is essential.

The main questions is whether you expense these items or you treat them as a capital asset.

Larger items of equipment, that will be useful for more than a year and are expensive in the context of your business, would normally be categorised as a “Capital Asset”.

If you want to post a computer part/peripheral as an asset you can use the nominal account “Office Equipment”.

If you want to post to an expense account you can use “Hosting Fees and IT Consumables
