When a try to link a payment to the bank with an invoice that I issued Quickfile doesn’t find the invoice
I also have 1 only payment for 2 invoices can I allocate that 2 invoices with one only payment ? because I tried and I couldn’t do that
Hi
The invoice needs to match the amount in your bank account and needs to be in certain date range which you can set in advanced account settings.
You could open a separate ‘dummy’ bank account and tag the ‘only payment’ in your current account as a transfer between bank accounts and click on your dummy bank account. Mark both invoices as paid on the invoice screen and choose your dummy bank account as pay option. That should do the trick.
Hope this helps
For your second question: you can assign one payment to more than one invoice for the same client by using the “pay down multiple invoices” option in the “payment from a customer” tagging popup. You enter the client name and it will list all invoices for that client in the same currency as the payment, and you can select any of them until the whole payment amount is used up. Any amount that you don’t allocate will sit on the client account as a prepayment which you can use to pay future invoices.
If the two invoices are for different clients then the only option is the intermediate bank account described by @rhc. But this would rarely happen for real - if the payment isn’t coming directly from the customer but is instead a bulk settlement of different customer payments from a payment provider then you should be using a merchant account anyway.
Re the first question, as rhc says, when you tag as payment from a customer it should offer you a list of recent unpaid invoices that match the amount and currency of the transaction but if the invoice you’re looking for is too old then the same “pay down multiple invoices” approach is the way to go as it goes back further in time when looking for invoices.
The exception to all of this is cross-currency payments - if the payment is in GBP and you want to pay invoices in EUR for example then you can’t do this via bank tagging.
Hi,
Thank you very much for your reply
I checked both features but in my case and it didn’t work because it couldn’t find that invoices ( I don’t know the reason )
To sort it out I went to the invoices and I registered a payment (log payment) I selected the account (business account ), and I selected the method of payment (direct debit).
That actions created a transaction in the business account and after that I deleted the original one which I couldn’t link. The value is the same only the reference is different
