i get recurring payments from the government via universal credit, what is the best way to log the payment for this please.

Tag the payment in your bank feed as something else not on this list and select proprietors drawings account.
I’m assuming your a sole trader and not a Ltd company.
Universal credit isn’t a business transaction and so it would be tagged the same as any other non business transaction.
