Is there anyway that you can change the interface from initiate request after to a date selector.
I am just unsure that my direct debits are set up correctly with the number of days and it would be easier to select the appropriate date of the month.
The only issue I can see with your suggestion is if you were to select a date, how would this work at the next occurrence of the invoice? For example, take a weekly recurring invoice - selecting a date 7 days from now would work, but when would you expect the next one to take place?
The date that we can actually collect the funds is defined by GoCardless based on the individual mandate. This is date that we would add the number of days to at the moment. I’ll check to see if this date is visible in GoCardless and update my post. Maybe this would help?

It’s a bit buried in GoCardless, but if you log in on their website and go to Customers >> Select your customer >> Select the bank account >> Select the mandate, the date GoCardless gives us is the “Earliest Charge date”, which would be correct as of now (it may have been different this morning due to the cut off times to submit direct debit requests).
Thanks for your reply. I was hope it would work the same way as if you had created a manual invoice and then you can select the date of the month you want it collect.
I am weary of the reoccurring invoice that will auto instruct the direct debit. I want to start using it but unsure if i’m setting things up correct.
Examples I have
All invoices are issued on the 1st of each month
Customers who want the direct debit collected on the 1st of each month. what should input as the number of day after or should i change the date they are invoiced
for other customers who want to pay their invoices on say the 7th of the month should I have 6 in the days after box?
I don’t think there’s a definitive answer here I’m afraid.
Because GoCardless will give us a date that they are able to collect the funds, we use this and add the number of days you specify to it. This date can vary from client to client too, for example, a new direct debit will have a later date than an existing one due to it’s set up.
As of now, the collection date is 1st February for an example I have set up, but this could vary for your clients. There’s more about the timings of direct debits on the GoCardless website.
I’ll certainly pass this to our development team to see if they have any suggestions and will let you know if there is a way around this.
