I would like to rename some of the accounts in the chart of accounts, both for tidyness and to add “don’t use” to some names so that some of our users don’t post things to the wrong account. How can I do that? Thanks.
Hello @JulianGall
QuickFile has a selection of standard default codes which can not be edited.
You can however edit the names of codes which you have created yourself.
Hi @JulianGall
Just wanted to add to @QFSteve’s response, that if you have codes you’re not using, you can hide them completely.
From the top of the Chart of Accounts page, if you select More Options and select Remove Unused Accounts, this will hide them for you.
Thanks for your answers. I can understand why QuickFile needs certain accounts as standard. e.g. Sales, Suspense, Stock etc. These could well be used by parts of the system.
However, it beats me why, for example, 7503 Broadband Internet and Fax is so important that you couldn’t change its description and remove Fax, say.
I suppose the answer is to set up new accounts with the names you want, and hide the ones provided. Not the most helpful thing.
Anyway, thanks for answering.
Julian
