I did find this related topic in the forum which may help.

Error setting up SMTP for Gmail

I created a new gmail account with lowest security settings and “Allow less secure apps” is set to all. Service not available, closing transmission channel. You can also just remove the smtp settings from your account to revert back to the default method of sending.
