Rolling 12-Month VAT Threshold Monitor for Non-VAT Registered Businesses

Feature requested

An optional dashboard widget/report showing a business’s rolling 12-month turnover against the current VAT registration threshold.

Typical use case

The VAT registration threshold is assessed using a rolling 12-month turnover rather than a financial year. As a non-VAT-registered business, I recently discovered that my turnover had come much closer to the threshold than I realised because I was monitoring annual figures rather than the rolling 12-month total. QuickFile already holds the sales data and knows whether the account is VAT registered, so a rolling VAT threshold monitor would help users identify when they are approaching the threshold before it becomes a problem. I suspect this would be particularly useful for sole traders and small businesses who may not regularly calculate their rolling 12-month turnover manually.

How I would expect it to work

For non-VAT-registered businesses, an optional dashboard widget could display: • Rolling 12-month turnover • Current VAT registration threshold • Remaining headroom before the threshold is reached For example: Rolling 12-month turnover: £75,181.17 VAT threshold: £90,000.00 Remaining: £14,818.83 An optional traffic-light indicator could also be helpful: Green - comfortably below threshold Amber - approaching threshold Red - close to or above threshold I appreciate that accounting turnover and VAT-taxable turnover are not always identical, so an appropriate disclaimer could be included to remind users that they remain responsible for determining their VAT registration obligations.
