Sales nominal ledger

How do I set which nominal ledger code invoices are posted to when they are raised. All my invoices currently end up in the General Sales account. I need to be able to vary which nominal code each invoice is posted to so I can analyse my sales easily. How do I do this?

The way you would change this is by clicking in the Question mark on the individual line, as shown below:

This will post it to the stated nominal code. Of course, if you need to create your own, you can do so through the Chart of Accounts (under Reports).

@Fay, you can also ‘Set up Reusable Inventory Items’ and therefore set the default category for the sales item:

When you use the inventory item in a new invoice, it will automatically post to the default category:
