As well as recording existing prepayments, I’d like to be able to schedule a series of recurring payments to occur in the future that will be collected by direct debit. No sale has yet been made, so an invoice or recurring invoices are inappropriate.
Typical use case
We allow customers to save up towards a known large purchase by depositing money with us in advance each month. Nothing happens with this money until it’s used to pay down a large invoice, but at present we have to either set up the recurring payments elsewhere, ask for standing orders (with all the associated hassles), or take them as invoices then retrospectively sort out the invoice totals afterwards. A similar proposition is used by many Christmas savings clubs, where people pay a small amount each month of the year to build up a larger pot by Christmas, without using a bank account.
How I would expect it to work
Under prepayments, I’d like to see a method to collect at a future date by direct debit, or a series of payments via direct debit.
