I know this is probably the dumbest question but I normally dont use set prices as we are service based but I cant seem to find the area to set a product cost so when i type it in the invoice it automatically comes up with the set cost. Please can someone tell me where this is located in the system?

Are you referring to the inventory system? This allows you to setup templated items you can import into your invoices, it works for unit and time based entries. You can set a fixed amount here and qty, import it into an invoice then change the qty accordingly, i.e. for the number of hours etc.
