Google has a facility they call app passwords for cases like this where you want to use a client that doesn’t support Google’s preferred OAuth mechanism. You have to have two-factor authentication enabled (which Google call “2SV”) and for Workspace accounts it may depend on the organisation level settings, but if you can get an app password set up then you should be able to use that in the QuickFile smtp settings.
The server name is smtp.gmail.com, username is your email address, password will be the app password you created, and you want to enable security and use port 587.
That’s brilliant, it worked perfectly.
Thank you for your help, its been bugging me for months since I changed to google and couldn‘t find anything on it.
Just for reference for anyone else looking, we do have a support article for this in our knowledge base: Using a 2-step verification Google Account with QuickFile
Note that Google cancel your app passwords if you change your Google login password, so if you ever do then you’ll have to regenerate the app password and update the QuickFile settings.
