Setting up direct debit for Making Tax Digital

Hi, hoping the community can help. I’ve signed up for Making Tax Digital, which is linked to my quickfile account. Before then, I used to pay via direct debit direct to HMRC. Does anyone know if that direct debit will still occur, do I need to do anything, set up a new one with quickfile? Many thanks

The direct debit side of things with HMRC doesn’t change. This is still paid directly to HMRC and they’ll collect it following the return submission.

Just to be safe, however, I recommend signing into your HMRC account on their website and go to “Manage your VAT account”

And then “Payment and repayments”

This will show you your options.
