I successfully set up for my emails to go via my Yahoo account but I am suddenly receiving an aithentification error - suggestions?
Have you changed the password for your email?
Yes but I’m sure I’ve successfully sent emails since then and updating the password on Quickfile didn’t help :0(
This authentication error is being returned by your SMTP server, it’s almost certainly something to do with the password change. When you enter this in Quick File, ensure the case is correct and if you’re copying and pasting from somewhere else just check you aren’t inadvertently copying in some spaces at the beginning or end.
When I try to change the settings, this is the message I get
It looks like there was a problem reaching your SMTP service
Error Message The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
More Details –
I have double, triple and quadruple checked the settings I am using and still to no avail :o( I have also tried changing my password for Yahoo! again, to be certain the one I’m putting in on QuickFile matches.
The settings I am using are:
Port: 465
hostname: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
username: my email
password: my email password
and SSL box is ticked
As an update to this post, I have since tried using my Gmail address and I’m still having the same problem.
We haven’t changed anything on our side so I’m not 100% sure what the problem is? Let me take a look at your configuration and get back to you.
Thanks Glenn but no, I used the yahoo settings when Imhad my yahoo email address as the from address and used the gmail settings when I tried my gmail address as the from address.
When I went back to SMTP settings page on quickfile I got the page that asked for my activation code but I definitely didn’t receive the email with it.
Thank you for your assistance with this.
Sorry I jumped the gun, I checked afterwards and can see you had it configured to send through GMail, so all fine there! Still checking a few things…
OK you were on port 465 whereas GMail uses 587. I’ve updated this for you, please could you try resending the activation email?
I thought I’d tried every possible combination yesterday but I have now successfully got it working with my original Yahoo! account with the following settings
Port:25
host:smtp.mail.yahoo.com
username: my email
password: my password
Phew!
Glad to hear this is now working again for you, let me know if you have any further difficulties.
