You will need to link your HMRC account with QuickFile. There are more details on how to do this, here: HMRC Tax Accounts - MTD Returns

I have completed my first digital Vat return which has been saved, and I need to submit it to HMRC

You would need to roll the saved return back and re-create it using the MTD process. This will then submit it to HMRC for you.
