Switch account from Partnership to Company

Hi,
I have been running a property business as a partnership, but have recently created a new company and business bank account.
What would be the best thing to do going forward.
I need to keep my old data and bank accounts, I just need to add a new company and new bank account.
Thanks
Antony

You cannot (and shouldn’t) change the business type. You will need to set up a new Quickfile account for the new company. The old account will remain as it is and will not be deleted or removed as long as you log in from time to time, and you get an email warning you of any impending deletion anyway. Worth running a backup of your account anyway though.

Hi @Antony_Nicholas,

As @Lurch mentioned you can’t change the type of company, you would need to set up a new account for the type. We can help by copying over your client/supplier contacts to the new account. You would just need to send a message to @QFSupport with the two account numbers for us to do this for you

Bare in mind that a change from a self employed partership to a Ltd company does not carry over past transactional data.

As others have advised, a new account starting from scratch is the way forward.

If in doubt, speak to an accountant.
