Hello Adam
Currently QuickFile only supports MTD for vat but we will be fully compliant for Making Tax Digital for self-assessment when it is fully released by HMRC in April 2026
More information can be found in the block on the website
So we can still file companies accounts at companies house website but cannot submit to HMRC.
The link you have sent is for self assessment, what about companies submitting to HMRC?
Hello Adam
QuickFile does not submit company accounts, this is usually done through an accountant.
We have a year end comparison service for our partner accountants.
https://support.quickfile.co.uk/t/year-end-accounts-price-comparison-service/12003
Iâve always self filed our company accounts through the HMRC Online Portal that is now closing, the calculations arenât terribly difficult and if weâve put all of the information into QuickFile correctly itâs usually easy to find the values I need to compute.
If anyone has any recommendations for software or options to keep self filing accounts in this way please do share them here (or feel free to message me) otherwise the QuickFile year end accounts service is quite reasonably priced compared to software licences for single companies for single years.
I have used BC Easyfiler.
Their website is at THIS link
A one-off submission has just risen from ÂŁ15 to ÂŁ18.
Their price list is at THIS link.
I send in my spreadsheet and he does the calculations and iXBRL tags.
Then I click and submit.
Hope this helps!
HMRC has a list of suppliers and includes a column âSuitable for self-filersâ
corporation-tax-commercial-software-suppliers
What it doesnât include is the cost of those services⌠Yet another indirect tax from the HMRC.
BC EasyFiler is on the list but their prices have increased. They are very reasonable but I suspect all suppliers will be increasing prices as we get near the deadline.
Following this topic with interest. Would love to see Quickfile add this feature.
The submission usually takes me under 30 minutes copying and pasting the numbers from Quickfile so I was hoping to find a similar nice easy web form to complete.
These new costs are not ideal for some micro/hobby businesses.
Iâve had a look through the list on GovUK and a lot of the options look like they are from the stone age and sometimes not even web based. Their âsuitable for self-filersâ column may not be accurate as it says No next to FreeAgent, which is easy for a non-accountant to use. It is a full accounts suite so the subscription cost is quite high.
Nomi looks like it could be worth a look. Iâm not sure how easy it would be to just use it for year end submissions without duplicating a lot of effort with what we have in Quickfile.
You could have a look at absolute software
I have not used them myselfâŚbut they have a very good reputation.
I just logged in to HMRC to make a start on my Corporation tax for the year, and was greeted with a message that the service is closing next year. I quote: âThe free Company Tax online filing service is closing on 31 March 2026. You will need to use commercial software to file your accounts and company tax return next year.â
Will QuickFile be supporting this integration, as it does with VAT returns?

Iâve merged your post into an existing thread. Please see the above replies which hopefully help.
But please do let us know if you have any further questions.
Even a dormant company needs an accountant, which doesnât make sense.
Thanks, thatâs helpful - I didnât find it when searching earlier.
It would be very useful to have an option to file CT600 directly from QF.
GJC
what do you mean you send in spreadsheet? spreadsheet of what, from QF?
Usually the workbook contains sheets for
I download the PnL & BS from Quickfile, make any adjustments and thatâs pretty much it.
Hope this helps.
I think not supporting CT600 submission will be a big mistake for Quickfile.
I know of loads of small businesses that use something like Quickfile to get going before they grow large enough to want to pay for an accountant.
There will be no point in paying for Quickfile and then paying again to submit when you can just pay for an accounting package that does both.
So cutting off that pipeline of small but growing companies seems like a bad move. Quickfile is essentially saying âdonât come to us unless you have an accountantâ. i.e. we are not for you guys starting out.
I myself am involved in three different companies that use quickfile and are looking to move because of this.
I guess time will tell, but high risk and a shame for us to have to leave an otherwise excellent service.
We are not saying this is something we wonât support. Our intention always has been to support as much of MTD as possible. We are continuing to work closely with HMRC on this.
As itâs been discussed above and elsewhere on the forum, HMRC have moved the goalposts several times over the past few years in regards to whatâs happening and when. Our development team are actively working on MTD features and weâll share any news and details as soon as we can.
However, itâs always worth engaging with an accountant as there may be tax benefits and schemes that you can take advantage of.
Please accept my apologies for any confusion caused.
Exactly. What about dormant companies, or holding companies that hold shares. Thereâs a price for those too and it is the same submission despite the size. To go to accountant and ask them to submit my holding company accounts, or dormant accounts, etc, is silly.
Ct600âs are easy to get wrong. There may be associated companies or âassociatesâ to consider and these rules are not straightforward. The CT600 and tax payable will ultimately be wrong and HMRC will be looking at penalties and interest.
@QFMathew - I cannot stress how important it is to both your customers and to QF that you have the functionality to submit Corporate Tax Returns in place by 31 March 2026.
Being able to self-submit without incurring accountantsâ fees is a big deal - and I have numerous clients with ÂŁMM turnovers, that are using QF on my recommendation, and that absolutely would switch to one of your rivals if you donât make this a priority for this year.
Iâd argue itâs actually a bigger priority than self assessment filing for many.
