Unable to verify a Mac.com email address

Hello there,

My invoices mostly end up in junk with my clients. I cannot verify my domain as it’s a Mac.com email address from Apple iCloud. Can anything be done about this.

Many thanks

Kind Regards

Hi @pdudhaiya

Can I just double check - do you mean the SMTP settings here?

Well I’m not sure what SMTP setting are in use at your end but I suppose iCloud or any other email service will have an issue if it’s using a third party SMTP and specially without authentication. So some of my invoices I send out are fine but a lot of them end up in my customers junk folder.

If you haven’t set up your own custom SMTP settings then QuickFile will send the emails from their own infrastructure with a quickfile.co.uk address as the “from” and your own address as the “reply-to”. In principle this is OK but I know some of the more aggressive spam filters don’t like the combination of HTML-only emails with embedded links, the word “invoice”, and a reply-to that doesn’t match the from. If you do configure your own authenticated SMTP settings then QuickFile will use those and send with your own address directly in the “from” line.

Thanks for that explanation Ian. I’ll see if I can setup my own SMTP. iCloud has two factor authentication but I’ll see if there’s a way of sorting this out.

Many thanks

Hi pdudhaiya,

May the articles below about the 2 step authentication for icloud is helpful for you.

Thank you so much. This is very helpful.

I’ll try to update you but may take a while to test it.

It’s sounds more difficult than it actually is, it’s quite straight forward

I have done this for clients on third party apps like Outlook. Myself I only use Apple Mail so I’ve not needed to do so this. I can create an app specific password for QuickFile and this should resolve it. Not sure why I thought that QF didn’t allow using your own SMTP.

I’m an Apple Certified MacIntosh Technician.

Thank you.

Okay I have successfully added the SMTP after creating a app specific password. Fingers crossed. Thank you for all your help. This will speed up invoices paid hopefully.

Kind Regards
