Unsuccessful VAT submission

I have successfully submitted VAT returns direct to HMRC from Quickfile in the past. However, this time I have received the following message back from them:

"Thank you for sending the VAT submission online.
The submission for reference 27090 was received on 16-05-2016. Unfortunately it could not be accepted as it failed HMRC data checks.
To correct this please use the help provided within the software you used to complete your form and send it again. "

any ideas on how to resolve this?

Hi @carolinehagen

We identified a bug which may have caused this. We’ve now put a fix in place and rolled back the failed VAT return. Can you re-run your VAT report please, re-submit it to HMRC and let me know if that works?

Just tried again, but unfortunately got the same unsuccessful result…

I’m afraid you’re going to have to leave this with us for the moment - not sure why HMRC are blocking it.

We can manually submit it from our end if you’re happy for us to?

[Edit]
Are you ticking the ‘Mark as final return’ box when trying to submit your return?

[Edit 2]
I’ve just heard from one of our dev team who says that the final return box was ticked. Was this intentional? We believe this is the reason it was rejected. It has however been submitted all OK now.
