Upcoming Gmail SMTP - will QuickFile support OAuth?

Hello,

I’m looking to migrate from Xero and saw that you can set up your own SMTP for sending emails.
We use gmail and it appears that they are shutting down this functionality from their side as it’s not secure enough any moment now. Are you planning to add OAuth so we can use gmail to send out invoices?

From their website:

Autumn of 2024:

  • Access to less secure apps will be turned off for all Google Accounts.
  • CalDAV, CardDAV, IMAP, SMTP, and POP will no longer work with legacy passwords (basic authentication).

Hi @Aivis

Although Google are retiring basic authentication, app passwords will still be supported.

In the full blog post by Google, they mention this will still be supported

All Other Applications

If the app you are using does not support OAuth, you will need to … create an app password to access these apps.

Hope this helps and offers some reassurance.
