Using QuickFile with a very Old-School Accountant...?

Hello Team as a new Ltd Company focussing on selling imported products as an Amazon Seller I’ve just signed up to QuickFile and used it to capture all of the expenditure that I’ve outlayed to date. I think I thought initially that i might be able to use QF to bypass the need for an accountant.

Having read through some other ‘do i need an accountant’ threads I reckon I do to ensure I stay the right side of compliance with HMRC.

That’s the background - my question is - my accountant - lovely chap, got a lot of time for him - bit of a dinosaur though, retired, does everything the oldschool way, paper submissions via royal mail, probably uses accounting software in his home office from decades ago and prints it out and posts it.

I can’t see him readily volunteering to connect to QF as an authorised user (if there is such a thing i’m literally 2 days into using it).

Back to the question - will the output from QF be usable by a good old boy like him? Is anyone else in a similar scenario and can advise?

I suppose I could find an alternative accountant but I don’t want to be disloyal, he looked after me for years before the IR35 legislation changed and I stopped being a freelancer.

Grateful for any thoughts.

Cheers,
Deano

Hello Deano

You can output all your ledgers in the form of csv files in the form of a backup.

He can then use them with most other software (including Excel or similar) but it would mean more work for you as you are outputting data for him to work on then you would have to enter what he gives you back and you would have to do the MTD vat submissions etc.

My suggestion, get him to have a look at it, add him as a user in Account settings > Team Management. No harm in putting it to him and seeing what he says.
