Various Vat Rates for EC Countries

Hello.
We have researched this topic in Quickfile and read that although we can override the amount we cannot change the percentage beside 20, 5 or no VAT. (in the UK that is).
In EC countries some of the VAT is 21% on petrol for example (Portugal) and this means that we cannot reclaim the VAT amount as we cannot override the 20%.

We have tried to change the VAT rate in the supplier dashboard with no success and this is becoming tedious. Either we are not doing something right with the software (likely) or something is a miss.

Would you be able to give us some pointers please. With clients on sage we would know how to operate. Thank you for your help.

Another thing, could you add ICPA on your list of organisations for Accounting Regulators in the UK. They are similar to the IFA and are missing from your list. We noticed this on your Campaign Beta we were about to sign into.

Thank you again for your great support.

You can set any custom VAT rates on your account in QuickFile although I’m afraid some of the forum discussions may be out dated now.

To set your custom sales and purchase VAT rates go to Account Settings >> Company Settings and click on the Advanced Features tab. From here you can enter a comma separated list of VAT Rates.

I will also look at getting the ICPA added to the list of regulators.

I new it was something we missed!. All good now. Thank you for adding ICPA, we are sure they will be delighted.

Great… Also ICPA is now there on the list.

Very good also thank you

Hi. You can not claim any EU vat in a UK VAT return. If you have been charged VAT from another EC member state then they must reverse charge it (basically 0 rate it) if it was a cash purchase or is too late to have them 0 rate it then you must not enter any VAT amount on the purchase and record as gross. The vat rules for the reclaim are then applicable from the country of origin. Hence why it can not be entered on to a UK VAT return at any other rate than the UK rates or 0, 5 or 20 - unless it was reverse charged. The good news is you can still reclaim the VAT, however you must do so in a seperate HMRC online service. Here’s how https://www.gov.uk/vat-refunds-for-uk-businesses-buying-from-other-eu-countries

If you have any question please let me know.
