I have been asked by HMRC to provide a VAT audit trail. Is there a neat way of doing this that will satisfy their requirement? Are they just looking for the same information that I can export as ‘download calculations’ or are they looking for more information then that?

I would imagine that the calculations should be satisfactory, but it does depend on what they’re looking for. The calculation report would provide them a breakdown of how everything has been calculated, along with the invoice numbers and VAT element of each of them.
Should they require more however, by all means come back and we’ll try our best to help.
