VAT submission to HRMC - first time

Hi,
I registered with HRMC to submit VAT electronically via Quickfile. I started my company in October 2018 and wanted to submit now the Oct - Dec 2018 VAT return, however received the error message “Vat return submission failed. - Please file the VAT return for the period begining: 01/01/2019”.

What can I do here?

Hi @theinteresteduser

First thing to do is to check your VAT periods are set up correctly in your settings. We use period beginning, whereas your VAT ones are specified as period ending. There’s a handy little table here (settings section) to make sure you have the right period selected.

Also check that the VAT period hasn’t previously been filed outside of QuickFile.
