Why not support for VAT on sole trader Account?

I have just become VAT registered but I am a sole trader. I was all set to do my VAT returns etc through Quickfile only to find this morning that I cannot link my account as it is a personal VAT account.

Are there any plans to change this? I cannot understand why you can work with one but not the other.

If I cannot link my account, will Quickfile still be able to work out my tax return values based on sales with VAT paid by my customers and purchases with VAT paid by me? So once I mark an invoice as paid which has VAT on it, Quickfile will add that to the VAT value I need to pay, even if my account is not linked?

Hello @mark123

You can set up sole trader vat.

On this screen please select Organisation as it is your company, the Individual option will be used for Month to date Self Assessment (MTD SA) when HMRC release it.

In MTD terminology all VAT connections are “organisation” rather than “individual” even if you’re self employed.
