Write off part paid invoice

I have a customer who has paid me 50% upfront for a website, she has now decided 2 years later that she doesn’t want to go ahead with the site. How do I write off the amount owed without losing the fact that I did charge her for part of the invoice?

You can create a credit for the remainder of the invoice so you’d still have the original and the payment showing
