I have trouble tagging a refund (usually it works for all other refunds)
I had a purchase from Visoid worth 22.28 (June 1st)
On the same day they refunded me 22.29.
I inserted the refund as usual as a “negative purchase”. But I couldn’t tag it, perhaps because the refund is 0.01 higher? (I’m getting No qualifying purchases could be found to refund against. Make sure the corresponding purchase has been logged before you attempt to process this refund.)
Looking at the forum I also tried this ( Tagging a refund transaction - #2 by Glenn )
Neither have worked, and I’m still left with an untagged refund.
Can you please advise / resolve?
Many thanks!
Hello @tsomek
I would reccomend the below
- Crediting the original purchase
- When you save the credit note a refund transaction would automatically be saved and tagged to it.
- Remember to remove the untagged transaction from the bank as to not double up on the rfund.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the feedback.
Just to understand better.
If I credit the original purchase, or manually create a negative purchase (which becomes a credit note), I stil have to remove the transaction?
I haven’t been doing that so far - but to be honest, there haven’t been any transactions that were left untagged.. Does this mean I’ve been double-refunding?
Many thanks!
Hello @tsomek
When you save a credit not it prompts to save the refund, this creates an auto tagged bank transaction
If you already had a bank transaction from say a bank feed or imported statement you would need to delete the untagged entry to avoid doubling up
Also, is there a way of properly double-checking that there are no double refunds?
Thank you!
So, if there’s no untagged transaction, then I’m fine?
Sorry, just trying to make sure I understand fully

Yes, some people have a bank feed that auto imports bank transactions, in that case you would need to remember to delete the untagged feed tarnsaction.
If there isn’t one already just save the credit note and the refund transaction will auto create and tag in the bank
