MTD Support for corporation tax

What is the timeline for Quickfile to add support for MTD submissions for Corporation Tax? I can’t find any info on the forums on the site through basic searches.

If this is not on the agenda for future development why not? If it won’t be implemented by the time my Corp tax submissions are due I will have to start looking at alternate solutions and migrate away from Quickfile, which I really don’t want to do.

If the government ever revive the MTD programme for corporation tax then I’m sure QuickFile will support it, but I know they’ve said they do not intend to develop any direct support for the current legacy (non-MTD) filing regime beyond the current tools to link you up with accountants who use QuickFile and can submit on your behalf (for a fee) with their own software.

Hi, my accountant retired a year ago and the journey since has been informative. Corporation tax returns are unbelievably complex; the form runs to dozens of pages and CT is a complicated tax. The software required is very specialised - this is not just an income tax self-assessment. The same is true for Company’s house returns.

In the accounting world software that produces a “Companies House” return is called “Accounts Production” software; it’s not a product name but an entire class of product type. Several companies make suitable systems. The same companies make software for CT600 returns. Notably, these companies usually don’t offer book keeping software, the ones that do have something worse than Frankenstein. I bought an Accounts Production and CT 600 solution from Andica and have been very happy with it. I have a few returns to do and they all went in smoothy. Others exist, prices vary from daylight robbery to reasonable.

A document format called ixbrl seems to be the standard for date exchange with CoHo and HMRC compliant filing software. You can off course get data import/export other ways, but I think that a good aspiration for Quickfile (which I use for book keeping) would be to achieve ixbrl formatted exports so that these other very specialised products can import data.
