Having been using Quickfile, and sent all VAT returns for nearly a couple of years, to HMRC, and not had any problems.
But I’m now having problems sending in my latest, return
I’m trying to send my VAT return to HMRC, to no avail.
I can get through to HMRC and grant authority to Quickfile, no problems at their end.
BUT I get a message, saying =
“Were not able to establish a connection to HMRC for the highlighted accounts with the VAT Number xxxxxxxxxx.
We recommend removing these accounts and re-connecting if needed.
Please ensure to connect the account associated with your VAT reg. number”.
I have done what the message advises (removed accounts- and try reconnecting), still to no avail.
Keep getting same above message.
I also get “you are not yet authorised to view this report for VRN XXXXXXXXXX.
Please ensure your VAT number is correct and have connected the corresponding HMRC tax account. If you have recently enrolled on the MTD scheme allow 24 hours for HMRC systems to update”
I enrolled to MTD via quickfile a couple of years ago.
I have looked at similar topics within quickfile, but I’m still not able to file a VAT return.
Have you been using MTD for about 18 months? If so then you would need to renew your link with HMRC. When this happens you also need to make sure that you only have the one active link and that your VAT settings are linked to this active link.
To check the links you’ll need to go to Reports >> HMRC
Yes have be using MTD via quickfile for 18 months.
Have used your advice, but I am still getting the message = “remove failed accounts and try again”.
I did manage to get a VAT return filled in, BUT IT IS IN SAVED, capacity.
And don’t know how to un-save, and send.
I assume I am still not getting a link between HMRC and Quickfile?
Now managed to try and send VAT form completed.
BUT RETURN SCREEN, in red says =
“by gateway — authentication failure the supplied user credentials failed validation for requested service”
When I go into REPORTS, then HMRC.
Only thing it says is DASHBOARD HMRC TAX ACCOUNT.
“you can link one or more tax accounts to quickfile”
But there isn’t any links?
There is a button to CONNECT, when I connect I get “remove failed accounts”
Then go round in a circle.
Morning, still cannot get into HMRC to file a VAT return.
I will need get this return to hmrc, soon.

ENSURE VAT NUMBER IS CORRECT TO THE RIGHT hmrc account, etc etc etc
Have you made sure that you’ve connected the correct account? Some people can have more than one gateway account. You need to make sure the link is for the company not the individual
Best way to make sure is to log out from HMRC on your browser and then when you go to re-link you shouldn’t have anything autofilled
