A Proforma Invoice usually comes just before an official invoice and is simply a way for a business to outline a number of products and services along with quantities and costings at the request of a client. The Proforma looks very much like a regular invoice only it is not an official request for payment.
The Proforma can also be referred to as an estimate or quotation, it serves much the same purpose. In QuickFile we refer to Proformas as Estimates, however you can easily change the name of this document using the method described here.
